  • @godfatherofgreenbay has these inspirational motivational posts – problem is i think i need a few of them beaten about my head.  i can not for the life of me get motivated to get anything, i mean anything, done the last few days…  winter blues, lack of sunlight, warmth…

i meant to start with -

but i guess i’ve got too much redneck in me…  so alas hot rods…

    i need a nap i think…  i can’t seem to motivate to work; work out; bleh…

i went out and had some beverages with some associates last night (basically my local bank branch, one of the tellers was leaving and because they rock and take care of me – really that just all act friendly and nice and kind when i walk in the door) – i wanted to show my appreciation for what they do, well maybe actually who they are (when you own a business it’s always a fine thing to be nice to the people that handle your $ – just sayin’…) they all had these fruity, well not fruity but like really sweet sounding fancified adult beverages smores and german chocolate and mojitos and i just had me some fancified beer…  i can’t remember the last time i went out like that in the city – it was a good time – one of the things we talked about was beyonce at half time – i was the only white guy there – they are all latino(a) and two black women – they didn’t see it the way i did – which it totally cool, i get it – i appreciated their perspective and talking about it.  they argued that beyonce is a ‘pop’ star and as such she caters to a very broad audience and her overt sexuality isn;t a ‘tramp or slutty’ persona – it’s just strong sexually. and that her audience is really a white audience (hence nfl backing – actually they argued pepsi backing) and as such for them homosexuality is a much harder (pun unintended) subject to broach than implied sexuality…  which was curious for me – but interesting nonetheless… my kids have been around our – we live our lives in i guess an extremely diversified way.  one of our godchildren is black, two others have latino heritage – we have a significant number of gay friends male/female – so i’ve seen it all, but the black and latino culture – based on our conversations – homosexuality still has a really profound stigma…

    - there’s a friendly tonight – usmnt v. honduras… if we (the us of a) play like we did against canada – we (the us of a) should have our asses soundly kicked.  last post i mentioned or posted a video about a young female footballer named indi cowie – well here’s some more crazy skilz from unc players…

a clever trick for your bestest of friends…

not really – just not motivated, at all…  crap i can’t discuss here is going down and it just sucks…  our legal system…  people argue if you don’t like (think it’s better anywhere else) it go somewhere else…  believe you me – i’m thinkin’ about it…  this whole thing is absurd…

the ft. lauderdale spring soccer trip is in a week and a half…  so hopefully that long weekend will bring me some ‘core’ warmth and sunshine i’m ready now…  ughh…  peace out folks… i hear a rock calling my name – i may go crawl under it…

  • I don’t know how motivational the Godfather’s motivational posts really are. Usually I spend time reading them instead of getting anything done.

It’s interesting how different social circles have such a different perspective. I’ve been in circles where gay-dom was, like, the norm, or at least very acceptable/normal but then I walk a few steps away from that and there are still people who are like “oh no it’s the devil!” Same with sexuality in general. Some people are very open and “whatever” but others are much more conservative. And some crazy people walk the line between those circles and manage not to go crazier.

  • They are right in a sense. Beyonce does represent a kind of sexuality. I can also understand to a degree how some women who may be afraid to express their sexuality can see her as empowering in that sense. They want to be able to own it like that. However, like I said, she is a kind of sexuality. It is as contrived and obvious as “safe porn”. It is a kind of sexuality that should be used sparingly as it gets boring and old quickly (for both parties).

I feel like the only person in the US that hasn’t seen any of her performance.

  • @Erika_Steele - right, completely agree – and ‘safe porn’ is still not something i really am comfortable with my 15 year old daughter (and even my 11 year old son who was very embarrassed about the whole scene) as willing to accept as the ‘norm.’  it was a fun conversation – i value their opinions – there’s no way for me to have any sense of their reality – unless i ask or they talk…  i had no idea really who she was – i’ve heard the name – the songs – are so far from any genre that i listen to – and my kids don’t really listen to any of that either – my wife does – but she grew up in hawaii in the 70′s and her sense of music is all whacked anyway…

  • @leaflesstree - hi leafless!  yeah – you’ve definitely been privy to a fair share of sights and sounds – and that’s a great thing – socks and all…
it is our own venn diagrams i guess – where we each feel comfortable – i guess what i got out was simply and particularly – the wealth of the conversations – most of the group was 20 somethings with a 30 in there me the 40 and a 50 – it was welcoming that they weren’t the same mundane things i spin through my echoing lobal cavity on daily basis…  and yes gogb posts are exactly that…    and – well that’s what makes them wonderful in that sense…

  • @xplorrn - her music is mediocre at best.  I kind of think she sucks.  I am going to teach my son that he shouldn’t just accept the norm.  He should question it and determine its value for him and his life.  He shouldn’t accept anything at face value.  I don’t think that there is any race of people that treats homosexual individuals “better” than the other.  The things that my parents say about LGBT individuals are ridiculous.  I always attributed it to being Southern and Baptist more than anything else. I’ve heard white people say the same thing.  My feelings are that I am not lesbian, and adults have the right to love whomever they want.  As long as it is consenting, then no one else should care.  My parents swear gay marriage will ruin theirs.  They had nothing to say when I reminded them that at one point blacks couldn’t get married.  LE SIGH.

  • Well you know something Mr. Xplorn…I’d still like Beyonce to crush my ears with them thighs.  It’s funny how today an extremely rightwing friend from La Crosse who is also a prepper posted a video about Beyonce converting kids to atheism.  I didn’t watch it because she was wearing a long dress.  I’m bad.

@leaflesstree - that’s the point.  I motivate you to read my posts.

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - yeah – i understand that urge… the crushed ears – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgmIiQbwTEY
